Abstract

By December 28, 2021, the European Commission will have to adopt a decision to identify the date from which the activities of the Schengen information system (hereinafter "SIS") will be governed by Regulation (EU) no. 2018/1861 amending the Convention implementing the Schengen Agreement and repealing Regulation (EC) no. 1987/2006 with which the second generation Schengen information system ("SIS II") was established.

This contribution represents an attempt to verify whether, and to what extent, the entry into force of Regulation (EU) no. 2018/1861 will affect the Quaestor's measures for issuing and revoking residence permits for third-country nationals reported in the Schengen information system
