This essay, after analyzing various issues related to the ASN, offers some initial critical remarks on Bill No. 1518, which aims to reform the regulations governing the recruitment of academic staff. By comparing the currently applicable rules with the key provisions proposed for adoption, it raises doubts, at least, about the suitability of the ongoing reform to deliver the anticipated improvements to the system
