Il ruolo delle istituzioni informali nelle politiche di inclusione

Abstract

“Romito 1-2” is the name archaeologists use to refer to the double burial discovered in the Romito cave in Papasidero, northern Calabria: two individuals who lived approximately 10,000 years ago and were then buried together. The male, in particular, must have suffered from a serious genetic disorder (acromesomelic dysplasia), a type of dwarfism that would have rendered him, in life, both abnormal within his community and incapable of contributing to the high-altitude hunts essential for survival (Graeber and Wengrow 2023, 25). For scholars of this pathology, characterized by low living and nutritional standards, it must have been the community itself that supported this individual by offering him the same amount of meat as all the others and, ultimately, granting him a decent burial.
