Gli strumenti di AI nel piano nazionale per la digitalizzazione del patrimonio culturale. Prime osservazioni

Abstract

The article deals with the legal regulation of artificial intelligence tools in the cultural heritage system, currently being defined following the adoption by the MIC in 2022 of the National Plan for the Digitalisation of Cultural Heritage (PND) 2022-2026. The contribution starts from some general issues regarding the introduction of AI in individual sectors of the Italian administration, to then analyse the evolution of the European legal framework following the entry into force of EU Regulation 2024/1689 on AI. The contents of the four "guidelines" for the digitalisation of cultural heritage attached to the PND and the ministerial organisational structure IPAC, Infrastructure for digital services related to the digitalisation of cultural heritage, which will have to provide the coordinates and specific digital AI services to the various cultural institutions, are then analysed. Finally, the ongoing national legislative initiatives for the overall regulation of AI tools are analysed.
