L’impatto di Brexit sul sistema internazionale di certificazioni


Abstract


The EC Regulation n. 765 of 9 July 2008 containing "rules on accreditation and market surveillance with regard to the marketing of products" (hereinafter, the 'Regulation') defines the legal framework that supervises the organization and functioning of the European model for accreditation of certification bodies.

In particular, in order to guarantee the broadest protection of particularly relevant public interests (such as health, safety and environmental protection), the Regulation introduced the accreditation tool, defined in art. 2, point 10, as "the attestation by a national accreditation body certifying that a given conformity assessment body meets the criteria established by harmonized standards". In other words, accreditation by a national body gives the assessment body the effective power to carry out conformity assessments valid throughout the Union, subject to certain conditions
