Università, territorio e lingua

Abstract

This paper aims to analize the theme of the internationalization of university courses taught by English language. The research starts from the case of the Polytechnic University of Milan and examines the jurisprudence about the functions of the Italian language, as a vehicle of cultural identity. From the analysis of the Court's decisions it is clear that the jurisprudence tries to implement a difficult balance between the internationalization of the university training offer and the primacy of the Italian language. Moreover, the use of a foreign language in the academic teaching shows some critical profiles especially in relation to the specificity of the organization of teaching in the vehicular language for legal studies. Lastly, the paper analyzes the solutions adopted in other legal systems about the ways to achieve a reasoned internationalization of degree and post-graduate courses in a comparative perspective.
